The People Behind CACE

CACE is made up of community leaders from a variety of disciplines. Lawyers, teachers, business people, activists, and other folks who want to have a ludicrous amount of fun while supporting good government. Just as the bedrock of Constitutional democracy is civic engagement, the key to civic engagement is an informed populace. CACE invites everyone to join our efforts to ensure the future of constitutional democracy, one student at a time.

Our Founding Fathers

CACE was founded as a non profit by Clint Woods and Ben Glickman in 2011.  The organization was born out of necessity. While the We the People program was flourishing, serious setbacks occurred within the program in 2011 because the Center for Civic Education lost its federal funding which had been giving the We the People program 93% of its operating budget. This meant individual school teams had to be more on their own in terms of getting volunteers, inspiring teachers to continue the programs and providing general infrastructure. Schools that didn’t already have the program in place would find it more challenging than ever to get it started. Noticing the problems that this lack of funding created and seeing that some schools had less resources than others to put the program on, CACE was born. The idea behind the nonprofit is to provide volunteer institutional support and financial support for schools that are doing civic education programs in general. Through this nonprofit, CACE is able to host summer session workshops to provide incoming students with basic information to get them to start thinking about government as well as regular practices with seasoned volunteers.
